Seventh Prism:
What is it?

The Seventh Prism - What is it?

"The Seventh Prism provides a unique framework for creating the kind of work/life integration that leads to higher levels of performance for individuals and the organizations they inhabit."

Dr. Neil Yeager
Designer, The Seventh Prism Approach to Work/Life Integration

The Seventh Prism provides a framework for examining all the key aspects of one's life including:

  • Work
  • Relationships
  • Spirit
  • Wellness
  • Context
  • Possessions

and creates a concrete action plan for:

  • Maintaining what's working;
  • Modifying what needs adjusting;
  • Transforming what is broken or missing.

Using the metaphor of a deck prism, the six sided glass prism used in ships to illuminate the quarters below deck prior to the advent of electricity, The Seventh Prism provides a unique framework for creating the kind of work/life integration that leads to higher levels of performance for individuals and the organizations they inhabit.

The Seventh Prism is an approach to personal and professional development designed to help those engaged in the process create a comprehensive work/life integration plan for themselves based on the examination of thirty-six factors that encompass the various components of one's life - both within and outside of the workplace.

The Seventh Prism consists of six Foundation Prisms
each of which has six Facets.

The six foundation Prisms including their thirty-six facets are:

Work: Purpose, Pathway, Talents, Passions, Legacy, Career Orientation

Relationships: Primary Partner, Friends, Colleagues, Family of Origin, Children, Acquaintances/Network;

Wellness: Psychology/Emotions, Aging, Medicine/Supplements, Fitness/Exercise, Food/Sustenance, Ethics/Values;

Spirit: Intuition, Meaning, Nature, Religion/Beliefs, Contribution, Sense of Place;

Context: Workplace, Vacation Place, Primary Location, Community, Support Infrastructure, Contemplation Space;

Possessions: Tools, Habitat, Personal Artifacts, Toys, Objects of Identity, Money.

Through careful examination of the thirty-six facets of each of the six foundation prisms, those creating their own unique Seventh Prism Profile gain clarity on which aspects of their lives they want to maintain, which they want to renew, and which they want to transform.
